Hard Sun pt 6

The school day had long ago ended,
and yet a light remained in the darkness.
I had not allowed the sun to shine in two weeks.
Plants were dying.
I sat down on a bench, asking for three hashbrowns and a large OJ.
Baked fresh and to perfection I inhaled the food.
"I want the sun to turn back on."
I gave it thirty seconds.
"I want the plants that were affected to be healthy again."
With a local radio station humming into my ear, I settled in to listen.
A cop car rolled by, stopped.
"You alright miss?"
"Yes! Just waiting for my ride. It's too creepy to walk around."
"Damn right. I hope whoever's doing this dies."
I shivered.
And the sun returned, hot and demanding.
I asked for shades.
Ask and ye shall receive, no?
Something about valleys of shadow and fear. And yet.
I have no fear.
